3.7lb Siberian Ink Stain Nephrite Jade Carving Block Rough Slab.
This is an extremely rare variety of nephrite that I've only ever seen from Kunlun china, but this particular piece is actually from Siberia Russia. It's highly translucent like Siberian white jade, or some icey jadeites. The biggest difference here, is its a very fine grained light grey nephrite, called ink stain because it looks like some black ink soaked into some high quality white nephrite. This piece is almost entirely fracture free, making it ideal for a single large carving, or many smaller ones.
The rind is a little softer, having been naturally chemically altered into a creamy opaque white.
It can also be a free standing display piece, as the large face is polished.
It measures 6 3/4" (171mm) x 4" (102mm) x 2 3/8"(61mm) and weighs 3.7lb or 1682g.
